This study is a result of a research done with nine homeless adolescents in 2015, Maceio-AL. The aim of this study was to understand the reasons that took them to live on streets and the everyday life on them. The study was a qualitative and exploratory research which the data came from a semistructured interview, a sample characterization form and a work field diary. The data was analyzed through the content analysis method. A large proportion of the sample were males aging between 12 and 17 years old. The results were categorized in two subjects: reasons that took them to live on streets and the everyday life on streets. In the first one, the reported reasons were free will, following a family member, violence, job and income. In the second one, it was found that self-care and eating were done in institutions, public places and at home, for those who only stay on streets during the day. The overnight is on streets or at home; none of them go to public hosting services. It was identified that due to a lack of time caused by the informal work, they have reduced leisure activities. It was noticed that there are a variety of reasons which took the adolescents to live on streets, from imposed situations on birth to familiar and social ruptures, considering less relevant the free will speech (FERREIRA, 2011). The everyday life also makes evident that some of them find internal and external resources to supply their necessities, to organize and to recover themselves daily in the homeless situation. These youth’s problematic reveals a violation of rights assured by laws. Living with the venerability is added to the routine when they go around in the urban area and stablish relationships which oscillate between protection and risk. It is highlighted the importance of supportive actions to these people, creating empowering strategies, aiming to improve the daily life organization, mobilization and social participation, increasing the access to material goods and resources that help them to overcome the homeless situation.
