Welcome Dr. Ufuk Çakatay to Join the Editorial Board of International Journal of Aging Research.
Professor Ufuk Çakatay is an eminent biochemist whose research on aging is well known at the international level. He has been working as a senior scientist at Department of Medical Biochemistry, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University. Dr. Çakatay was formerly working as an associate professor at Central Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. He graduated from Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and received his PhD degree from the Department of Biochemistry, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine.
His research interests include: optimization of bioanalytic methods for measurement oxidative stress, experimental animal models of aging and age-related disorders. He has had a long-term interest in various protein oxidation biomarkers such as protein carbonyl groups, protein hydroperoxides, advanced oxidation protein products, and nitrotyrosine. Professor Çakatay has over 80 publications that include research papers, book chapters, editorials and invited reviews on free radical biology, aging, diabetes, and biological activity of alpha lipoic acid. Professor Çakatay serves as the guest editor, referee or a member of the editorial board for more than 50 journals. He won the top reviewer award in 2008 from Elsevier Science Publishing Company. He also serves as a member for Committee on Animal Research and Ethics of Istanbul University
