PRIMARY CILIARY DYSKINESIA

Research Article of Research Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacy PRIMARY CILIARY DYSKINESIA RIBEIRO, P.V.C1, JARDIM, A.C.V1, JATOBÁ, V.P1, SILVA NETO, J.F2, SILVA, E.V3, ANJOS, FB1 Medical Student, Federal University of Pernambuco/UFPE1, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco/UFRPE2 The Mental Disorders (MD) are neuropsychological disorders that are gaining greater prominence in society and have the most widespread etiology sociocultural factors. However, recent surveys indicate that teratogenic agents may also play a role in the genesis of these disorders due to changes that promote on embryonic and fetal development. Among such agents, stand out in the study: Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS); Congenital syphilis; alcohol; drugs such as thalidomide, valproic acid and SSRI; hypervitaminosis of retinoic acid. Another recent study line is responsible for relating the mother's exposure to psychological stress during pregnancy to the onset of mental disorders such as schizophrenia, attention deficit, hyperactivity and anxiety in their children. The aim of this paper was to investigate the origin of various MD, set the embryological basis of individuals who were exposed to teratogens and have developed various types of mental illness. Keywords: Teratogens. Mental Disorders. Syndromes. Drugs. Environmental Factors ...

NEW APPROACHES ON TAUOPATHIE’S STUDIES: A QUICK REVIEW

Review Article of Research Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacy NEW APPROACHES ON TAUOPATHIE’S STUDIES: A QUICK REVIEW VILAR, A1, PEREIRA, A1, LINS, C1, AMORIM, R1, ANJOS, F.B.R1 Federal University of Pernambuco/UFPE1 Review tau protein’s role at tauopathies, by comparing and converging classic and new data. Describe new therapeutic approaches on tauophatie’s field. The study is a systematic review of the scientific literature, based on preliminary research and interpretation of material, book report summaries, material analysis and interpretation, bibliography, review and final report. The following databases were used to support the bibliographic research: PORTAL CAPES, SCIELO, SCIENCEDIRECT, PubMed and MEDLINE. The descriptors used were: “tauopathies”, “tau protein”, “Alzheimer’s Disease”, “Parkinson’s Disease” and “therapy”. Among the analysed papers, 13 guided tau protein’s biochemical analysis, 9 referenced the study about pathologic tau, 14 conducted the research about Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease and 18 based the review about new therapeutic approaches. Keywords: tau protein’s, Alzheimer’s disease, cytoskeletal elements, Parkinson’s disease ...

Glycemic control and electrolyte changes in diabetic rats treated with pioglitazone

Research Article of Research Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacy Glycemic control and electrolyte changes in diabetic rats treated with pioglitazone *1Adeyomoye O.I and 2Adeola W.F 1 Department of Physiology, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria 2Department of Physiology, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye Ogun State, Nigeria This study evaluated the effect of pioglitazone on glucose and serum electrolytes in normal and diabetic rats. Fifteen adult wister rats were divided into 3groups (n=5). Group 1 and 2 served as the normal control and diabetic untreated group respectively and each received 0.3ml distilled water. Group 3 served as diabetic treated with 4mg/kg pioglitazone. This study lasted for twelve days after which blood samples were collected under mild anesthesia through retro-orbital sinus and centrifuge to obtain serum for analysis. The weight and fasting blood glucose level of rats were determined using the weighing scale and glucose oxidase method respectively. The serum electrolytes (Na+, K+, and Ca2+) were determined using the flame photometry method. Results showed significant increase in (p<0.05) in weight of pioglitazone treated group when compared with the normal control and diabetic untreated group. The average weight gain in pioglitazone treated group (29.80%) was significantly higher when compared with previous studies (5%). There was significant decrease (p<0.05) in fasting blood glucose level in pioglitazone treated group when compared with diabetic untreated group. Na+ concentration was significantly higher (p<0.05) in pioglitazone treated group when compared with diabetic untreated group. A significant increase (p<0.05) in Ca2+ concentration was observed in pioglitazone treated group when compared with normal control and diabetic untreated groups. In conclusion, oral administration of pioglitazone caused weight gain, hypernatremia, hypercalcemia and a decrease fasting blood glucose level. Pioglitazone is therefore useful in glycemic control and maintainance of electrolyte balance in diabetic mellitus. Keywords: Pioglitazone, glycemic control, hypernatremia, hypercalcemia, serum electrolytes ...
