Biography & Research Interest

Welcome Dr. Akrum Hamdy to Join the Editorial Board of American Journal of Microbiology and Immunology. Professor Akrum Hamdy was born in Egypt in 1959, completed his undergraduate Studies at Cairo University in 1981 (Poultry Production) and received his M.Sc. in 1986 from Minia University (Poultry Physiology) and Ph.D. degrees in 1991 (Poultry physiology) from Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands. He started work as Tutor from 1981 to 1986; Assistant Lecturer from 1986 to 1991; Lecturer from 1991 to 1996. And Assistant Prof. from 1996 till May 2001, then full Professor since June 2001till now on in Animal production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University, Egypt. He was a postdoctoral researcher 1) Institute of Animal Biology Dummerstorf, Rostock, Germany 2000, Sponsored by DFG 2) Institute of Animal Science, Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany 2007, Also, he was a guest professor for1) October 2002, Clinic of Poultry, Vienna Veterinarian University, Vienna, Austria. 2) Visiting Prof. in Animal Science Departments on Sept., Oct., ,2005 for AERI Institutional Linkage Teaching Methods and Curriculum Development Program conducted by Univ. of Florida and the Ohio State University. USA. He is a, (TOT), trainer for several university programs “Skills Development” for university staff. Through his scientific life till now he attended about 22 national conferences and 20 international conferences, published about 80 scientific papers. He is a member of several Animal & Poultry world, European and Egyptian organizations. He was either a chairman or a partner for more than eight scientific projects. Two of them still running. He was consulted as 1- Peer reviewer for the “Faculty Developing Program” in some Arabic universities. He was awarded for the Professor of the Year 2009 Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University, Egypt. His extension program deals with issues related to Poultry and Animal care and welfare. His research interests complement and extension activities: applied research and utilization of agricultural co-products as feed ingredients for Animal and poultry. 1) Environmental Physiology, 2) Reproduction. 3) Immunity and .4) Endocrinology. Prof. Hamdy, was chosen to be one of ten selected professors in field of Animal science to join the Scientific Committee on Promotions standing ( assistant professors and professors) Supreme Council for Universities. Also, he was has chosen as the sole representative for Animal Sciences of the Scientific Committee on Promotions standing ( assistant professors and professors) the National Atomic Energy Agency. Moreover, Prof. Hamdy now on, leads work as Technical Adviser to the United Nations in the affairs of the Animal Production and poultry. UNDP, Egypt.
