Information about employment in academic units
I have been employed at the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw as an assistant professor since 2005. Since October 2015, I have been the Head of the Chair of Human Resources Management at the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw. I look after the proper development of young academic staff members at the Chair, stimulate research activity (involving e.g. applying to competitions organised by the National Science Centre), encourage publication of valuable scientific papers in journals from the Master Journal List, co-organise scientific conferences (a national conference is currently being organised – 2016 as well as an international one – 2017), supervise a Human Resources Management Students Association, and look after the didactic offer of the Chair.
I have been employed as the Chief Growth Officer throughout the entire course of employment at this University. There are two main areas of work on this position: research and teaching. As part of developing research activity of academic staff members, I have built an R&D Support Team whose tasks consist in collecting information and keeping employees informed about competitions for research projects (and sources of funds for research), organising trainings and workshops on writing scientific papers meant for foreign publishers (focused around the international publishing standard), initiating academic cooperation networks, helping with respect to ‘language issues’ (i.e., translations and professional proofreading), layout development, etc. Development of international research and publishing-related activity is one of the manifestations of my endeavours towards making the University international. Therefore, I arrange visits of scientists from foreign science centres and encourage academic exchange and mutual undertakings, e.g. regarding dissemination of science. Additionally, I am responsible for administration of (national and international) research projects ran at our University (including projects carried out as part of the European Union Framework Programme). Thus I help in preparation of grant applications, ensure efficient execution of projects, or assist in the process of reporting/appraisal. What is more, owing to my engagement in international cooperation, I encourage our employees to participate in valuable international conferences. Due to my increased activity within this field, all the University’s Faculties have been assigned to high academic categories in the course of parametric evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (i.e., the Faculty of Management and Finance and the Faculty of Psychology came into category A while the Faculty of Law and Administration and the Faculty of Social Sciences – category B).
As part of developing the teaching activity of the University, I co-create academic majors (by way of preparing applications), study plans, and programmes and watch over the current specialisation offer of the University and procedures in terms of constant quality improvement. I am a co-author and the person responsible for the implementation of the ECTS system, the National Qualifications Framework (KRK), and any changes in terms of adjustment of the University to the “Bologna System”. Therefore, I serve on numerous committees, such as:
- Faculty Teaching Quality and Effects Committee at the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw (I have been a member since 2 October, 2012).
- Internal Faculty Team for adjustment of academic programmes to the National Qualifications Framework at the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw (I have been a member since 2 November, 2012).
- Faculty Committee for the development of the research and teaching staff at the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw (I have been a member since 1 February, 2014).
I have also held the positions of:
- the Representative for scientific research at the Faculty of Management and Finance of the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw (since 2 January, 2013)
- First Year Advisor at full-time and extramural Bachelor’s Degree programmes in finance and accounting, and management (since 1 October, 2013)
Undoubtedly, my personal endeavours towards implementation of the National Qualifications Framework at the Faculty of Management and Finance have contributed to the success of this Faculty. The latest inspection of the Polish Accreditation Committee in 2015 resulted in awarding a commendation to the programme in finance and accounting and a positive evaluation of the programme in management.
I have also held a number of other positions at the University, e.g.: The Scholarship Committee Chair, the Student Discipline Officer, and the Head of programmes in management conducted in the English language.
Between December 2000 and November 2005, I was employed as an assistant (academic teacher, doctoral student) in the Centre for Management Science of the Koźmiński University of Entrepreneurship and Management in Warsaw (currently: the Koźmiński University in Warsaw). In 2003, I completed a three-year doctoral seminar. At the time concurrent to this employment, I was an assistant to the Vice-President for Research.
