Welcome Dr Sherif A. Younis to Join the Editorial Board of Scientific Research and Reviews.

 I’m Sherif A. Younis, a researcher in Applied Chemistry at Analysis and Evaluation Department, Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI: www.epri.sci.eg), Egypt since 2014. Currently, I am currently serving as manager of water and liquid chromatography unit at Central Laboratories in EPRI. I am also a part-time academic lecture of petroleum refinery and separation methodologies courses at Petrochemical Department, Faculty of Science, Mansoura University. Besides, I was chosen as a research coordinator in 2018 at EPRI-Central Laboratories to improve the research quality adaptation with Other Egyptian and European research laboratories (including; INPT, LGPC-CNRS, CERFAV, and CANOË platform in France; LSRE-LCM-University of Porto (FEUP) in Portugal; University of Madrid in Spain) in order to promote an innovative R&D output based on industrial, environmental and agriculture sectors requirements.

 I received the Chemistry and Biochemistry degree from the Mansoura University of Egypt in 2005 and obtained the MSc in chemistry & biochemistry in 2010 (Mansoura University) and Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry 2014 from University of Ain Shams (Egypt). Furthermore, I enjoyed competitive postdoctoral contract at Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC)-CNRS compensate ENSIACET-INPT de Toulouse (Catalysis and Fine Chemistry group), Université de Toulouse, France (2016 to 2017). During my overall research programs, I have published more than 20 articles in ISI peer-reviewed journals, one chapter-book, registration for 3 national patents and shared as a member in more than 15 scientific workshop and conferences. Also, I am serving as supervisor for eight postgraduate students (M. Sc. & Ph.D. students).

 My academic and research interest involves the monitoring and assessment of petroleum and (bio)chemical products and water availability and qualities. My specialization is mainly focusing in synthesis, processing, and evaluation of heterostructures and nanostructured smart-materials that address fundamental challenges in Water, Environment and Energy fields. Overall, my experiences include environmental remediation, desalination, photocatalytic hydrogen production & storage, solar photo-conversion, bioenergy, environmental biotechnology, solar cells, sensor design, a close-loop management protocols for landfills waste-recycle.

1. Materials Science: Synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials (i.e, metals nanoparticles, metals oxides nanomaterials, metal -organic frameworks, magnetite, nano-molecules, and nanofluids) through chemical and green processes. Synthesis of polymer molecules, hydro/organo-gel, coordination polymeric composites, and carbon-based materials.
2. Materials Applications: Water purification and desalination, photo-catalysis, sensors, biological reclamation, and hydrogen generation and storage. As well, I am interested in the fields of photo-conversion, solar cells, pollutions risk assessment and management and waste-recycle for highly added values.
3. Analytical Technologies: Chromatographic (liquid “HPLC, UPLC, IEC, GPLC” and gas “GC, GC-MS”), spectroscopic (AAS, UV-Vis/NIR-Diffuse, FTIR, DLS, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman), and Advanced Microscopic tools (HR-TEM, Field emission SEM & AFM) .
