The psychiatric hospitals and the Psychosocial Attention Centers show differentiated treatment proposals. The substitute services develop coordinated activities by a multidisciplinary team in a proposition of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. The research sought to know, from the point of view of the user, the difference between hospital treatment and the treatment held in the substitutive services; as well as their perceptions regarding the care and the actions of the Occupational Therapy. It is a qualitative descriptive field study, with analyzed data using Content Analysis. The sample was all users who attended one of these services in December 2014 to January 2015 and who participated in Occupational Therapy activities. The research was funded by PIBIC / CNPq / UNCISAL with approval the CEP No. 2004. The results showed that there is a recognition of the different forms of treatment provided in hospital and psychosocial fields. As for the perception of Occupational Therapy action is detected difficulty in the association of its intervention. Users have reported the perception that the CAPS is constituted as one of the key pieces for the care to be more efficient, humanistic and without household disruption, positively transforming their daily lives. This substitutive model, values the uniqueness of patients and their way of life. As for TO, there has been a certain distortion in the perception of its role and objectives, difficulty in recognizing its importance and contribution in their treatment. One possible inference is that interventions in these services have interdisciplinary characteristics, which makes the recognition of specialties. The perception of who participates directly in the new psychosocial model values the care actions offered by it, recognizing and supporting the transformation to these non-hospital spaces. Interdisciplinary should remain the focus of action for these services, but it is necessary to reiterate the goals of occupational therapy in a more direct way, developing more systematic and enlightening analysis of their actions.
