  • Air pollution dispersion models-special reference to input parameters and application in sustainable urban planning

Air pollution dispersion models have different applications including in sustainable urban planning. It is a model showing picture of reality and is widely used to make predictions thereby solve problems and make compatible strategies for the management of specific environmental problems. The output of a model is precisely dependent on source strength of pollutants, meteorology, topography, dispersion coefficients, and plume rise and so on so forth. An effort has been made in the present paper by the authors to precisely estimate the source strength, dispersion coefficients, plume rise etc along with type of air diffusion models and their relevance on urban planning.

  • A study on the Management Mode of Modern Vocational Education in China

Since the reform and opening up, the management model of China’s vocational education has exposed many problems and deficiencies in the process of continuous improvement. The purpose of this paper is to study the management mode of modern vocational education in China, including: 1) research on the development of modern vocational education in China after reform and opening up; 2) study the current status and management mode of vocational education management in China; 3) summarize the main aspects of modern vocational education management theory and model to optimize the management model suitable for the development of modern vocational education in China. This paper selects the methods of qualitative research, selects the relevant responsible persons of vocational colleges, government and enterprise departments, conducts in-depth interviews on the relevant issues of China’s modern vocational education management model, and combines relevant books, reports and materials to propose an optimized management mode of modern Chinese vocational education. Through qualitative analysis, we find that 1) Since the reform and opening up, the development of China’s vocational education has mainly experienced the “exploration and practice stage”, “the stage of vigorous growth” and “the stage of quality improvement”, which has shifted from the cultivation of professional talents to the quality training; 2) The current Chinese vocational education management model mainly follows the modern apprenticeship management mode, and gradually explores the formation of vocational education group and corporate management mode. In the quality training of vocational students, it pays attention to the implementation of talent integration projects and strengthens the combination of engineering and learning. School-enterprise cooperation to enhance the practical ability of students in vocational colleges; 3) However, there are still many problems in the management of modern vocational education in China, such as the closure of vocational education teaching mode and the simplification of management mode….

  • Analysis and Assessment of Agulu-Nnaka Erosion Impact on Human Lives and Infrastructure

The aim of this study was to rehabilitate the gully erosion site and reduce longer term erosion vulnerability in Agulu/Nanka Community. This activity was carried out through some civil works such as construction of concrete drainage system, culverts and silty basin, spikes, rock chutes and stabilization of gully. An engineering design was used for the erosion gully intervention which highlighted on the detailed civil works that were carried out. An environmental and social management plan study was implemented aimed at identifying potential and social impacts that were associated with the rehabilitation as proposed means of minimizing and mitigating them to acceptable level.

  • Tribo evaluation of Surface Treated Carbon Fiber Reinforced Friction Material

Carbon fiber reinforced friction material is formulated by grafting MWCNT-F on its surface. This material combination is investigated in this work by using a wear test apparatus. The surface of CF is chemically inert and hydrophobic in nature and possesses poor bonding strength with polymer matrix. Hence, an attempt is made to improve the bonding behaviour between CF and remaining ingredients. CF surface is modified by grafting multi walled carbon nano tubes functionalized (MWCNT-F) on CF surface. CF content after surface modification is varied in wt% (2%, 3%, 4% and 5%) and mixed with remaining ingredients of friction material. Composite sheets are prepared by using hand layup method. Multi walled Carbon Nano Tubes grafted friction material (MWCRFM), is characterized for SEM. MWCNTs-F on CF surface is observed. Sample specimens are cut from the friction composite sheets and the influence of performance properties like friction, wear, speed, load and time on friction is studied. The behaviour of the samples are also analyzed using regression analysis L9 (3×3) experimental design method for 3 different loads, time periods and speeds. The results reveal that, time and braking pressure plays an important role to control the wear rate and coefficient of friction of the composite. It was also observed that, MWCNT-F grafted on CF specimens for sample M5 (CF 5 wt%) possess less wear rate and high stable coefficient of friction compare to other formulations of materials.

  • Extraction of dopamine, serotonin, and gamma-aminobutyric acid from lactobacillus.spp and yeast

Treating the neurological disease is a meticulous process with lots of uncertainties. There is been an increasing demand and improvement of treatments are being under process. Most challenging neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s diseases are still being under studies for the challenging reasons of their occurence. Also there is an increasing number of studies are going on with the Micro biome-gut-brain axis related findings to the neurological diseases. With such concept, it is significant to know the potentiality of the microbes which are commonly reside in our body to produce the metabolites i.e, Neurotranmitters related to the diseases. In this study focus is to find such microbes. Lactobacillus spp and the yeast commonly found in gut, shows the potentiality to produce the neurotransmitters with using simple laboratory conditions.

  • 2016 Deterministic Model Behind Zika Virus Infections in Brazil

We formulated a deterministic model for simulation of zika virus (ZIKV) infections. This cooperates with WHO serious alert on February 1st, 2016 to contain ZIKV epidemic in the world, Brazil being the most hit. Accordingly, we have taken Brazil records on ZIKV cases as an example to justify the model. According to the model, simulations suggests that by 2020, ZIKV infections is no longer a threat in this country. In our analytic analysis we have included some brief simulations as specific cases. Finally, model simulation is all about Brazil. In this model, besides a disease free equilibrium (DFE) point being globally stable, analysis of local DFE has two sets of eigenvalues, leading two different qualitative behavior. This follows due to variation in some parameters. In each of these two sets, none has backward bifurcation. That is the disease is controllable when R_01 the disease free is unstable. In the analytic analysis of either qualitative behavior, we have associated brief simulation. Only analytic analysis of endemic equilibrium has not been fully developed. We have considered Brazil ZIKV cases from January 2016 onward to verify the model plus having some predictions about ZIKV infections to around 2020. The basic reproduction (R_0) has been estimated as R_0=0.19221.

  • Post-colonial Study of Akachi Ezeigbo’s Trafficked

Post-colonial literature which has become a phenomenon for all nations examines, among others the anti-conquest narrative and the functional relations of social, cultural and political powers that sustained the tripartite governmental bodies of colonialism, post-colonialism and neo-colonialism. Since the colonialists viewed the masses as the ‘Other’ the well-being of the colonizers remained unchallenged as the nomenclature fluctuated from colonialists to post colonialists and to neo-colonialists. These named archetypal structures support all forms of corruption in which human trafficking and the inherent psychological trauma are apparently part. This paper examines post-colonialism in the Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo’s Trafficked through the theoretical framework of post-colonialism. The paper depicted the experience of the migrates in diasporas: ill-treatment of women: and also examined the ideology and practice of neocolonialism fixated on the ideology and practice of colonialism. The paper further portrayed the brazen corrupting influences of the post-colonialists and how they actively employed the ‘Us-and Them’ binary social relation to govern their community; which among others, are reflected on the realities of undue and illegal trafficking of young women prevalent in contemporary Nigerian society. The paper further observed that the post colonialists like their colonial masters and the neo-colonialists, use language as their most important vehicle to exercise powers through a mixture of coercion, persuasion, conflict and collaboration to imprison the colonized. It is the view of this paper that any human-being has the potential for redemption however dark their situation, as exemplified in the lives of the Nneoma and Efe: some of the deported essentialists commercial sex workers who for instance, settled down to some craftsmanship and family lives, Nneoma further gained admission into the University to further her education. Also the teachers, who had not been paid in almost one year because of the strike action they embarked upon, engaged themselves in other…

  • To evaluate how plants in folk medicine and diverse forms of application by the communities of the municipality of Milagres in Ceará.

Introduction: The lack of medical care, pharmaceutical and economic crisis, such as information on the use of medicinal plants, developing an empirical knowledge about the use of nature. A Brazilian popular medicine reflects the knowledge transmitted as generations that spread their knowledge about a medicinal flora, becoming as medicinal plants tools in pharmaceutical care. Ceará is rich in medicinal species endemic to the region, traditionally inhabited by the population, but little explored by pharmacology. Objective: To evaluate how plants in folk medicine and diverse forms of application by the communities of the municipality of Milagres in Ceará. Methodology: The research was carried out in the municipality of Milagres-CE, between November and December, through the questionnaire applied in several points of the city and rural area for consumers and raizeiros. Results: The most common plants in this community are: Lemon grass, Anise, Lemon balm, Spearmint and Eucalyptus. Reports of the interviewees showed that the treatment with medicinal plants resulted in the improvement up to 100% of the pathology. Conclusion: The population makes use of listed species treatment of pathologies indiscriminately. A study is needed on the use of medicinal plants in this region and a transmission of knowledge to a population.
