Improved soil plug height calculation formula
This paper analyzes the soil plugging effect of the open pipe pile during the pile sinking process. The soil in the pipe pile is regarded as a continuous and uninterrupted multiple units, and the force analysis is carried out in the vertical direction, and the vertical balance equation of the soil in the pile is obtained. By establishing an equation, the expression of the plug height of the pipe pile during the pile sinking process is obtained. Comparing the theoretical calculation results with the actual project, it is concluded that the theoretical calculation results can reflect the overall change in the height of the soil plug. Therefore, the pile plug height obtained by calculation has certain guiding significance for the project.
Mitochondrial Metabolism, Dysfunctions in Senescence Cell and the Possible Interventions through Herbal Medicines
The mitochondria are the cell`s powerhouse. They are considered ubiquitous organelles of all eukaryotic cells, being responsible for the cell’s life and death cycle. Through stimuli in the environment in which they live, mitochondria can modulate their own biogenesis as well as signal retrograde to the nucleus to modify the structure of their proteins. Since the mitochondrial genome contains only 37 genes, much of the encoding of its proteins depends on the nuclear genome. Thus, the communication between mitochondria and the nucleus seems to be a target of science in understanding the pathologies associated with this organelle. Some medicinal herbs have been shown to influence mitochondrial biogenesis, such as Gynostemma pentaphyllun (GP) and berberine, which increase the phosphorylation of proteins AMPactivated protein kinase (AMPK). Just as GP and berberine phosphorylate AMPK in signaling for mitochondrial biogenesis, the sesquiterpene beta-caryophyllene (BCP) demonstrated positive results in reorganizing mitochondrial transcription factors, being an agonist of the peroxisome proliferatoractivated alpha receptor (PPAR-α). Another plant derivative, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid known as cannabidiol (CBD), has been showing control in the metabolism of calcium in the mitochondrial matrix. In this review, we seek to get a closer look at the biochemical mechanisms of action of some of these plants, as well as their synergies in the results of different treatments. In the view of oriental medicines, the use of associated medicinal herbs has always been part of their treatment protocols. However, the effectiveness of these treatments in relation to plant synergy can be observed in future clinical trials for better understanding.

Strong levels of coal ash pollution together with high natural radioactivity explain for instance the spitting “custom” in Chinese streets, together with long distances between workplace and home, widespread cigarette use, and lack of public toilets. Alphaemitting nanoparticulates become a part of the digestion cycle in meat-eaters, but not without collateral damage.
LOWER LIMB MUSCLE ACTIVITY ADJUSTMENT AND LACTATE VARIATION IN RESPONSE TO INCREASED SPEED WITH PROPORTIONAL RESISTANCE IN YOUNG ADULTS
Background: Various pathologies require physiotherapists to adjust therapy interventions, some of which are to reducing joint loads while strengthening the lower extremity musculature. Tools such as a sled can be used to accomplish a small load with high-repetition-resistance exercises. Purpose: This study examined the impact of pushing a sled with regulated resistance on lower limb muscle activation and fatigue while walking and running. Methods: The neuromuscular activity of the tibialis anterior (TA) and gastrocnemius (GA) muscles of thirty-six young adults were recorded using surface electromyography (EMG) and lactate data from a Nova Biomedical Lactate Plus meter. The sled used was the XPO Trainer, which maintains a steady resistance proportional to the user regardless of the forces applied to accelerate the sled. Baseline lactate was collected and followed by one of three protocols: run, run-push (RP), or walk-push (WP). Each included three trials over a 40 ft distance, during which EMG data were collected per trial, whereas lactate was collected following the completion of the appointed task. Social Interaction and Social Media At Airport Departure Gates
An observational study was conducted at airline departure gates in several U.S. and European countries. Thirty-second observations were randomly made of 1360 different individuals ranging in age from infants to the elderly, although 79% of the travelers were adults. Most of the individuals were traveling with someone, except for adults who were more often traveling alone (58% vs. 42% time). Of the different types of social interaction and social media observed, cell phone texting/scrolling was significantly more frequently observed (at 53% time) than cell phone talking (13 % time), face-to-face interaction (13% time), on computer (7%) and touching (4%) which was the least frequently observed behavior. Significantly more cell phone texting/scrolling time occurred when adults were traveling alone (58% time). These data suggest that airline travelers are spending significantly more airport departure gate time on social media (specifically cell phone texting/scrolling) than face-to-face interaction or touching. Unfortunately, the observations that were made by professors and students were from too great a distance (10 feet away) in order to be unobtrusive but unable to code the precise type of cell phone texting/scrolling that was occurring.
A NOVEL TECHNIQUE TO PREVENT THE BREAST IMPLANT FROM EXPOSURE AFTER MASTECTOMIES
Introduction After mastectomies, we do our reconstruction, either immediately or delayed. In both ways of reconstruction for post mastectomies defect, the most commonly performed reconstruction is by using breast prosthesis [1]. For many years, surgeons have been trying to find out any solution to reduce the rate of implant exposure and develop some new techniques and modifications. However, once the infection develops or implant expose the only permanent solution is to remove the implant [2-3]. Although there is less evidence found in the literature regarding the salvage of implant once the infection occurs and when implant becomes expose in implant-based reconstruction [4]. Radiation also plays additional role in post-operative complication rates following implant-based breast reconstruction, as it is well documented that the incidence of complications is to be higher in radiated breasts compare to similar non-radiated breasts [5]. With the new advancement in radiation therapy the number of patients have been increasing who are receiving radiation therapy after immediate breast reconstruction [5]. Description of the Technique For more than 15 years we have been reconstructing the breasts deformities after different types of mastectomies, ranging from skin sparing, nipple areola sparing to different types of lumpectomies, by immediate insertion of breast implants. The main problem which we face during post-reconstruction, is the exposure of implant in addition to infection. With the advent of ADM (Artificial Dermal Matrix) [6], serratus anterior muscle [7], rectus fascial flap [7] and inferior dermal flaps [8] although they do an addition to thickness of skin envelop over the implant after mastectomy, but still the rate of implant exposure has not changed noticeably. A rare case of adult ileo-colic intussusception: Hamartomatous polyp as a lead point with concurrent appendiceal neurofibroma in Neurofibromatosis Type 1
Intussusception is a rare cause of adult intestinal obstruction and unlike in children, adult intussusception is commonly caused by a lead point, requiring surgical intervention in most cases. Hamartomatous polyp is a non-neoplastic growth of tissue containing mature cells, distributed in an abnormal manner. It is often associated with intestinal polyposis syndromes such as Peutz-Jeghers syndrome and Juvenile polyposis. In the current case, we report an extremely rare case of ileo-colic intussusception secondary to a lead point of an isolated ileal hamartomatous polyp in an elderly gentleman with Neurofibromatosis type-1. Patient was successfully treated with ileo-colic resection involving the intussuscepted segment of bowel. There was an incidental finding of a nodule in the appendix and the histology confirmed this as a neurofibroma. Post-operative recovery of the patient was unremarkable.

Intramucosal esophageal dissection after esophagogastroduodenoscopy: two case reports
Introduction: Intramucosal esophageal dissection (IED) is an uncommon disorder, described as the separation of the mucosa and/or submucosa from deeper muscular layers due to abrupt increase in intraesophageal pressure. Case presentation: The first case il that of a 52 – years old female patient who underwent an esophagogastroduodenoscopy for control. After the procedure an extensive subcutaneous emphysema of the neck and a massive pneumomediastinum occurred. The patient was successfully treated with a conservative approach. The second case is that of a 43-years old male patient affected by Down’s Syndrome, who underwent an esopagogastroduodenoscopy because of persisting dysphagia. The endoscopic showed the presence of a serrated stricture at 20 centimeters from dental arcade. After the procedure he fell dysphagia. A neck-chest TC-SCAN showed superior and posterior pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema, without signs of mediastinitis. The patient was successfully treated with conservative approach. After a few days, a new chest CT-SCAN showed the presence of an anomalous right subclavian artery arising from the descending part of the aortic arch, causing dysphagia lusoria. Discussion: The causes of IED include iatrogenic instrumentation, hemostatic applications, mucosal injuries from ingestion of sharp foreign body, or spontaneous. A fluoroscopic upper gastrointestinal series or upper gastrointestinal endoscopy has been widely used to diagnose IED. CT and magnetic resonance are useful for differential diagnosis. In the absence of signs of mediastinitis management is conservative. Conclusion: CT SCAN should be the first exam to perform in the suspicion of IED. The first line treatment should be conservative. In case of the onset of complications and in patients who are refractory to conservative management, endoscopic or surgical treatment are indicated.
Paget´s disease of bone in a patient on peritoneal dialysis
Paget´s disease of bone is a disorder characterized by disorganized bone remodeling. It´s occurrence in patients with end-stage kidney disease on renal replacement therapy is rare. Here we report a case of Paget´s disease of bone in an 80-year-old male on peritoneal dialysis that presented a high level of alkaline-phosphatase with a mildly elevated parathyroid hormone level and typical imaging findings localized to the pelvis. This is the fourth reported case of Paget´s disease in a patient on peritoneal dialysis and the first treated with denosumab.
