Case Report of International Journal of Case Reports Retained Penile Ring: Case Reports Odusanya Benjamin Olasunkanmi1, Omisanjo Olufunmilade Akinfolarin2, Salami Olayinka Abdurraheem3, Saliu Abdulwaid Niran4 1Consultant urologist, Department of Surgery, General Hospital, Marina, Lagos; 2Consultant urologist, Department of Surgery, College of Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital; 3Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, Department of Orthopaedics, General Hospital, Marina, Lagos; 4Consultant urologist, Department of Surgery, General Hospital, Marina, Lagos. Background: Penile constriction rings have been used to prolong erection with vacuum devices in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Some have also employed it for recreational purposes with the attendant risks of penile edema, strangulation and necrosis. We present two cases of entrapped phallus by penile rings. Case reports: 16 years old with pain and swelling of the phallus of 12 hours duration. This started after placement of a phallic ring to purportedly prolong erection which he was later unable to remove the ring despite several attempts and developed progressive swelling and pain in the phallus. He was also unable to pass urine. Examination revealed a circumcised phallus that was detumescent but grossly edematous, tender with shiny skin. Initial simple manoeuvres in the casualty proved abortive and ring had to be cut with an orthopaedic instrument. He was subsequently able to void without difficulty or any haematuria. 47 year old Asian male with a 12 hour history of penile pain and swelling following entrapment of a penile ring he had inserted for sexual gratification about 24 hours before presentation. There was a history of haematuria. The removal of the penile ring was achieved with a combination of cold compress squeeze, corporal aspiration and lubrication under general anaesthesia. Conclusion: Successful management of retained penile ring depends on early presentation by the patient to avoid adverse outcomes. It may require instruments not normally found in the urologist ...

Using Fuzzy Evaluation Decision Model to Assess the Operation Scheme of Taxi in Shanghai Pudong Airport

Research Article of International Journal of Trade and Policy Using Fuzzy Evaluation Decision Model to Assess the Operation Scheme of Taxi in Shanghai Pudong Airport Botao Liu1*, Boying Lv1, Yishuai Tian1 1College of Hydraulic & Environmental Engineering, China Three Gorges University, Yichang 443002, China. In order to investigate the decision of the airport taxi driver whether to return to carry passengers, we established a fuzzy evaluation decision model based on the analytic hierarchy process, combined with the application analysis of Shanghai Pudong Airport. Based on the selection and quantification of decision indicators, we used the AHP method to calculate the weights to eliminate indicators and optimize the indicator system. Then, a two-level fuzzy evaluation model was established, and the Bayesian discriminant verification model was more reasonable. Finally, based on the data analysis of Shanghai Pudong Airport, combined with 16 different airport decision-making situations, the model was used to obtain the no-load return trips and the membership of waiting passengers. We compared and selected the larger membership value as the decision. Besides, the dependence of the model was analyzed, and it was found that the main dependent factors for decision-making were the number of flight arrivals and the driver’s arrival time. After solving the above, we provide relevant basis for the decision of airport taxi drivers. Keywords: Fuzzy evaluation; AHP; Airport taxi; Bayesian discriminant ...

The Effect of Real Effective Exchange Rate Volatility on Uganda’s Trade Balance (1993-2015)

Research Article of Journal of Modern Economy The Effect of Real Effective Exchange Rate Volatility on Uganda’s Trade Balance (1993-2015) Dennis Mahebe1 ,Francis Wasswa2 and Willy Kagarura3 1Economist, National Planning Authority (NPA), Kampala-Uganda; 2Senior Lecturer, School of Economics, Makerere University, Kampala-Uganda; 3Senior Lecturer, School of Economics, Makerere University, Kampala-Uganda. This paper investigated the effect of Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) volatility on Uganda’s Trade Balance for the period 1993Q4 to 2015Q4 by employing the GARCH and ARDL methodology. The ARDL results revealed a negative relationship between the trade balance and the volatility of the real effective exchange rate in the short run. The Impulse Response Function results show evidence of the J-Curve on Uganda’s Trade Balance. Also, the results on the REER indicate that the Marshal-Lerner Condition holds for Uganda’s case. The study therefore recommends that developing a well-developed hedging facility like forward markets and institutions is critical in protecting exporters against exchange rate risk in the short run by reducing volatility of the real effective exchange rate with the aim of improving Uganda’s trade balance. Safety of injections been administered on daily basis is becoming of significant Public Health importance considering the increasing prevalence of complications and the negative impact this could have on the overall good intention of the Healthcare providers. It is on the basis of this that we assessed the level of awareness and compliance with injection safety practices among Healthcare workers in Ekiti State. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted using multistage sampling technique to recruit 582 HCWs across the State. In Stage One, 2 LGAs were selected from each of the 3 senatorial districts by simple random sampling technique through balloting and in stage two, a list of all the Health Facilities (Public and Private) in the selected LGAs was compiled and all were included in the study. In Stage three, A cluster sampling method was used to select all the staff who are eligible to administer injections in the selected HFs at the time of survey. A semi-structured questionnaire and an observational checklist was used for data collection. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 21. A total of 582 HCWs were interviewed and 151 HFs were directly observed for compliance with Injection safety procedures. The mean age of the respondents was 38.2 ± 9.6 years. Females ...

Causes Affecting Parental Involvement In The Schooling Of Children

Review Article of Journal of eSciences Causes Affecting Parental Involvement In The Schooling Of Children Yayew Genet Chekol and Ketema Joro Ayane Salale University Parental involvement (PI) in the education of children is not a recent phenomenon. PI has become an established feature of education policies across the developed world. The study set to establish factors that may make parents choose not to participate in education process or unable to become more involved. The study was grounded in Epstein’s overlapping spheres of influence theory. A qualitative case study was employed. Purposive sampling was used to select (4) schools and (40) participants in Alefa district, Central Gondar Zone, Ethiopia. Findings revealed that the economic status and level of education of parents have a significant effect on children’s education. It also emerged that parents are more likely to be involved when teachers’ perceptions about role of parents are positive. The study established that PI is also influenced by age of children. The study recommends that parents be helped to appreciate the benefits of parental involvement in the learning of their children. Workshops should be established to develop the relationship between parents and their children. Keywords: Parent, education, parental involvement, school, community ...

Research Article of American Journal of Dermatological Research and Reviews Volumeplasty of bulky nose using heat dermabrasion as a minor therapy Khalifa E. Sharquie1, Fatema A. Al-Jaralla2 1Department of Dermatology, College of Medicine, University of Baghdad. Iraqi and Arab Board for Dermatology & Venereology, Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Medical City, Baghdad, Iraq. 2Department of Dermatology, College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq Background: Ultrathick nasal skin and nodulation is one of the most daunting challenges in cosmetic nasal surgery. Rhinoplasty is a common surgical procedure to correct mostly gross abnormal nasal anatomical variation; however, many patients have minor bizarre shape or deformities that could not be well corrected by ordinary surgical procedures. So we should find other techniques to correct these unwanted or undesired nose shape abnormalities. Objective: The purpose of this article is to perform heat dermabrasion to reduce the size of bulky nose and to create new alar groove and to remove nose nodulations, acne or traumatic scarring. Patients and methods: In this study, we collected 40 patients with bulky nose during the period from 2009 through 2019; 21 females and 19 males and their ages ranged from 20-65 years. An Informed consent was taken from each patient before starting the study, after full explanation about the procedure. All patients had bulky nose, some had nodulation of nose and acne or traumatic scarring. Only one patient had history rhinophyma of several years duration. All patients were treated with heat dermabrasion using diathermy needle after local xylocaine anesthesia and patients were received topical antiseptic and oral antibiotics to be seen after 2 weeks. Then topical corticosteroid was used to prevent post-inflammatory pigmentation. Results:A total of 40 patients diagnosed with bulky nose were enrolled in this study; 21 (52.5%) patients were females and 19 (47.5%) were males.  Age of patients ...
